Creator Economy

The broader industry of people earning income by making content directly for an audience. Influencer brand deals are one revenue stream inside it, alongside subscriptions, ad revenue share, digital products, and platform payouts.

Influencer marketing (brand deals specifically) is a roughly $30B+ slice of 2026 estimates for the wider creator economy, which also includes subscription platforms, YouTube and TikTok ad-revenue sharing, courses and digital products, live-shopping commission, and tipping. A single mid-tier creator increasingly stitches several of these together rather than depending on one brand relationship.

The practical implication for brands: a creator with diversified income is not desperate for your deal the way a single-income creator from 2018 was. Pitches that lead with exposure instead of payment land worse every year. For creators, it means brand deals are one leg of a stool, not the whole business — worth pricing accordingly rather than accepting the first offer because it feels like the only offer.
